AMICUS CURIAE – seminar St. Petersburg 24 April 2019
Dutch appellate court judge and DRLA member Rutger Wery (Court of Appeal Arnhem-Leeuwarden) gave a presentation on the dramatic case of the ‘Fatal scooteraccident in the city of Nijmegen’ on April 24th in St Petersburg. Arkady Gutnikov, rector of the St Petersburg Institute of Law ‘named after Prince Oldenburgsky’ organised the seminar in the framework of the ‘Amicus Curiae’-program, funded by the Dutch Consulate in St. Petersburg.
The seminar – hosted in the historic premises of the Russian State University of Justice- was very well attended by students, teachers, lawyers and even some judges. The audience took notice of the lurid documentary, kindly provided by Dutch television BNN/VARA, just to get involved in impetuous discussions on the issues of Rule of Law of the case for 1,5 hour.
