In April 2021, the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken) published the official country report on the Russian Federation. The report was prepared in response to questions and key focus areas raised by the Dutch Ministry of Justice and Security (Ministerie van Veiligheid en Justitie) and contains an update of the country report published in December 2018.
The report can be downloaded on the website of the Government (in Dutch).
The country report includes an analysis of several legal developments in the Russian Federation, as well as broader political and societal developments. The report describes, amongst other things, the 2020 constitutional reforms (paragraph 1.4); new counterterrorism and anti-extremism legislation (paragraph 3.1) and the position of judges (paragraph 4.4) and lawyers (paragraph 5.5.7).
